What can I purchase via SMB Café Card at the cafeteria?
Any food or beverage purchased from the cafeteria such as Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner,
Snacks and Drinks that is consumed on business premises.
How do I track how much I am spending?
You can view salary deductions, expenses and your running balance via SMB’s
online reporting service (using your PIN to access). In addition, every
month, SMB will e-mail you a statement. The statement shows how much money
payroll has deducted and how much you have spent on a daily basis and your tax
savings for the month. This statement allows you to easily see whether you are
spending more or less than you budgeted.
What if I start spending more or less than I have budgeted?
Your salary deduction can be amended at any time for under or over spending.
Who is entitled to an SMB Café Card?
All employees are entitled to an SMB Café Card regardless of your income level
with the exception of casual employees and those on temporary contracts not exceeding 3 months.
What Is Salary Packaging?
Salary Packaging is a tax effective way of receiving your salary as a
combination of income and benefits. As you pay for benefits from your pre-tax
income you can reduce the amount of income tax you pay and increase the amount
you take home each fortnight or month.
What happens if I want to cancel my card or decide to leave my employment?
A reconciliation will be performed and you will be reimbursed any unspent money
via payroll. If you have a debit balance, payroll will make a final deduction
on a before tax basis, providing an additional tax benefit. If you have a
credit balance, payroll will pay the money to you as normal taxable salary.
What happens if I lose my SMB Café Card?
Just call SMB and advise them that your card is lost/stolen and they
will suspend your account and make arrangements so you can resume using
Café Card as soon as possible.
Is there a cost for the service?
There is a small management fee which also can be salary sacrificed out of
pre-tax salary. You will recover this cost with the tax you will save
on the first couple of purchases each month.
